Our church painting continues and lessons of love

Here is a bit of what I had the munchkins help out with yesterday.
I have told them that helping out at church is a privilege and an honor.
Most people love to complain about all that needs to be done somewhere to make it better, but there are very few who actually do something about it.
So, that being said, the low walls were really moldy and stained.
They are now TSP clean and painted to match the fountain that we painted a few months ago.
Michael Jr really got into the painting.
He did quite a bit of it.
He was not happy that one gentleman who helped us for a few hours got paid to be so helpful and Michael Jr did not. Which led us into another discussion about the homeless that are trying hard not to be. I think it was great to be able to show him how blessed we are. This man and his family found God after he lost his job and his home. He is still looking for work actively but there are just no jobs out there for him. He and his family had been living out of their car because he was to embarrassed to let anyone know how bad off they were. He is now living in the garage of a family member. He still can't find work but has found his faith. He brings his family to church and has even hit one of our youth events! Father is a smart man and has the man and his wife come and do little things that he knows Pamela and I would do for free. This way they keep their pride and work for the money they receive and Father is not just giving out cash to the( sometimes self proclaimed) needy.
Michael Jr was really touched by this.
He does not like the kids of this family, at all. He understands why they are kinda mean. That our society is not very kind to those who are without. When other kids would see them and knew they smelled from no real shower or that their clothes were all wrinkled and dirty because they did not have any money for the laundromat the snickering would start. When they had no where to walk home to like the other kids or their homework did not get finished because it got to dark for them to see it and finish or they were still really tired from sleeping in the car uncomfortably so the nasty comments would fly. The kids have to go to school everyday with the knowledge that others will be cruel to them just because they only have what their cousins share with them. Like the DS they were playing with. They wanted the kids at church to think they were cool so they brought the cousins toys with them.
Okay, he still does not want to hang out with these kids till they are nicer, but he now has a more personal understanding of their situation. He said he will try to tolerate them better, for God.
I almost cried when he said that.

I love when God teaches and you don't even expect the lesson.
